In order to build a day-to-day connection with Allah SWT, first, we need to understand who HE is. We are just Muslims because we were ‘born’ Muslims, not because we did proper research to understand what Islam is.
For instance, keeping the world view in mind, when we are hired in a multinational firm, during the first week of our orientation, we are given an introduction of all the senior management and then the topmost Director of our team. And then during lunch breaks or coffee breaks, we start questioning our fellow colleagues about our director, how is he as a professional person, what is his way of working, what does he like/dislike during meetings, etc.
Eventually, we would start respecting him out of fear of not losing this job, we would strive to maintain a good image in front of him, we would go out of our way to prove ourselves by completing all the tasks and milestones that he would assign us with. We are doing all this struggle because we have been given a proper introduction of our Director, who he is, what he can do, what is his authority, how much benefit or loss is he able to provide us with.
In a similar way, our topmost priority should be researching who Allah SWT is, what does HE require from us, what does HE order HIS creation, what are HIS attributes, what does HE say to us in the Quran.
Once we start getting an idea of who Allah SWT is, we would start obeying him sincerely, we would understand how much HE loves HIS creation and how amazing miracles and benefits can HE provide us with, in our everyday lives.
