I have been noticing the majority of my friends submitting requests for a digital global protest on Instagram against Swedish Quran burning incident.
It made me think & question myself why can’t we as a Muslim Ummah come together in response to this horrendous incident by actually getting closer to the Quran? Learn the Quran with understanding as well as contemplation and become knowledgeable ambassadors of our prestigious Deen?
For those people who are involved in this incident, it is merely a book that they try to humiliate out of ignorance and hatred, people who can’t even imagine the grandeur and supremacy of Allah SWT, who don’t even understand the depth, peace & tranquility in Allah’s religion, and who follow their shallow desires just to make their egos satisfied. (In the world of theology, such people make their egos their false gods)
But for us, Muslims, we do know the sanctity and status of this book, we do believe this is the word of Allah, so why don’t we create a relationship with our Holy Book by keeping in touch with it every day? There are several mobile apps with Quran translations in all languages, why can’t we make a goal to fit in the Quran translation & recitation in our schedule for 15 minutes daily?
I guess this would be the most practical & actionable response to all those people out there who manipulate the term “freedom of speech” to promote hate speech.
